How To Make A Vape Battery Last Longer

While simple devices like disposable vapes and small pod systems are designed for simplicity, efficiency and size, larger, more powerful units such as Box Mods require bigger batteries to support wattage control and a wide range of power outputs. These devices sometimes operate using an external battery, one of the many customisable features that require plenty of cleaning and maintenance.

Whether you're using a device with an external removeable battery or a built-in one, we've provided some tips to keep your battery in peak condition:

1. Correct Charging

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for charging your battery and avoid using your device while it's charging unless specifically stated that it is safe to do so. Also, be sure to unplug your device as soon as it's fully charged to avoid overcharging. Most modern vapes have smart lithium-ion batteries that stop charging when they're full and handle discharge cycles. However, although the technology has improved significantly in recent years, charging the battery before it's fully drained helps it last longer (versus fully draining and recharging the battery, which puts more stress on it).

2. Proper Storage

Don't leave your device in direct sunlight or in front of direct sources of heat as high temperatures reduce the lifespan of lithium-ion batteries. It's best to store your device at room temperature, or between 0 – 25°C, as extreme temperatures can damage components. Also avoid using or leaving your device in excessively humid environments or wet environments to prevent damage to the internal circuitry. If you're caught in a pinch out in the rain or prone to accidental spills, the Vuse Pro is a splash proof device.

3. Regular Use

Lithium-ion batteries are designed to be used regularly and operate a lot like sponges. Just like a sponge can dry out and become stiff, batteries can degrade if they sit unused for too long. If you're planning on not using your device for an extended period of time, give it a charge every now and then to keep it in tip-top condition.

4. Correct Settings

If you're using a device such as a Box Mod with adjustable wattage settings, consider lowering the settings to help conserve battery life. Higher settings will drain the battery faster as you're making it work harder, while opting for lower settings, where possible, will ease the load on the device's battery - conserving battery life in the short term and improving the overall lifespan for the battery.

5. Keep It Clean (External Batteries Only)

Cleaning your vape regularly isn't just about making it look nice; it's helps to keep it ticking over and improves its lifespan. When dirt and debris builds up on the battery or its connections, it can disrupt the power flow and cause performance issues. A clean battery also helps your vape operate smoothly and reduces the risk of overheating.

FAQs

Why does my vape battery die so quickly?

It could be one of several reasons, including high power settings, exposure to extreme temperatures, the battery's age and how frequently you're using the device.

Does the temperature affect my vape battery?

Yes, temperature can affect your battery's performance. Lithium-ion batteries don't like extreme temperatures; hot temperatures can make the battery age faster (or degrade) and even become unsafe. while cold temperatures can slow down the battery, causing it to not work as well or even freeze it up.

How long does a vape battery last?

The lifespan of a battery inside a vape depends on a range of factors including how frequently you use the device, user settings, maintenance and construction quality.
